This first Ultimate
Spinach LP is a result of the creative genius of producer Alan
Lorber. The ever-changing fabric of sound and unique concept of
the album is a high-point in the Lorber career which has been dotted
with numerous successes.
[Under the title of SONGS]
EGO TRIP is a deep
exploration into each of our personal looking glasses, which are
fashioned so that we appear god-like to ourselves ... but when
reality shatters the mirror, paranoia sets in.
SACRIFICE OF THE MOON describes the hunters, the rising of their gentle quarry, and the violent climactic sacrifice that follows.
PLASIC RAIN COATS/HUNG-UP MINDS refers to the jet-setters and week-end swingers, whose migration route follows all the "in" discotheques and yacht parties ... a grey-flannel zombie is still a zombie, no matter how much bright colored plastic and shiny rhinestones it wears.
(Ballad of the) HIP DEATH GODDESS has the cold unfeeling diamond. Look but don't touch. To touch is to die.
[From the Ian Bruce-Douglas's notes which are rather copious]
ULTIMATE SPINACH is mind food ... the urgent communication of yes
things ... a belief that pop music deserves to be an art form, taken
as seriously as its content ... top 40 is not where it's at anymore
... people's minds are waking up and they need good food, not the
garbage starch that fills them up with air instead of substance ...
